What does Reflexology feel like?

Clients have described their treatments as ‘relaxed energy’, ‘my energy flowing in the right direction’ and ‘like a full massage but I only had to take my socks off!’.

After arriving, if it is your first treatment we will do a short consultation (each treatment is carefully individualised to support you holistically). Socks and shoes are removed, and you will be made comfortable with blankets, cushions and supports as needed. Warm towels and a vegan balm will be applied to your feet to calm your nervous system and ease your muscles and tissues. As you unwind and settle into complete relaxation, I will use hand, thumb and finger pressure techniques on your feet, ankles and calves - and your hands, face and ears if that is what you have booked - feeling for areas that need attention. Your fascia will begin to release and your body will start to gently rebalance, loving the opportunity to ease areas of congestion and increase its resilience. At the end of treatment, you will gently come to, I'll offer you a glass of water (or two!) and you will put your socks and shoes back on.

I will suggest a little after-care, to ensure the benefits of the reflexology are prolonged. The aim is to offer something that is achievable and effective in extending the benefits of the session until your next treatment.

Clients say reflexology with me feels warming, vibrant, grounding, tingly and soothing - their testimonials are here. These are all signs of rebalancing, and your body will take from the treatment exactly what it needs for where you are now, to feel more ‘well’. It is very personal.

I am often asked if I have reflexology myself. Yes I do! And I have regular treatments for many reasons. Aside from easing my lower back tension and increasing my circulation which keeps my pollen allergy at bay, I love that hour of quiet connection and the gentle boost of energy which has a profound effect on my resilience.

What can Reflexology do?

How does reflexology counteract our stressful lifestyles?

“Health professionals now recognise that physical, emotional and mental health are linked,

and that by treating a patient as a whole person Reflexology can support individuals with multiple conditions”.

Association of Reflexologists.

Reflexology is so effective at dealing with stress because it allows the body to rest, countering the effects of 'fight or flight', and it is holistic, meaning the body's organs and energy systems are encouraged to harmonise to your needs to achieve homeostasis. It is an hour or so of peace, for contemplation however you need. This is becoming much more important to consider in an age when our lives are challenged in all directions: tight time scales, fewer resources, larger work-loads, life changes such as having baby, exam nerves, a new job or bereavement... not to mention the challenge of managing technology! It can all lead to stress, where most of us can relate to a decrease in well-being: tension, overwhelm, anxiety, indecisiveness, headaches, poor digestion, nausea, low mood, lack of confidence, broken sleep.

Longer term, those stress symptoms can put our organs and systems chronically out of balance, manifesting as a potentially long list of symptoms: pain, poor posture, fatigue, high blood pressure, infertility, painful periods, a sluggish immune system, inflammation, poor circulation, IBS, hormone imbalances, menopausal issues, congestion, itchy skin, hair loss.

Reflexology is proven to boost circulation, improve mood,

release tension, improve sleep and increase well-being

The good news is that signs of imbalance can be flipped; having reflexology with me means you can counter these signs of stress, feel more grounded and in control, have reduced pain, a calmer digestion, brighter mood, improved confidence, and the key to it all... good quality sleep. Do have a look at this article published by the Association of Reflexologists which gives more information: “Health professionals now recognise that physical, emotional and mental health are linked, and that by treating a patient as a whole person Reflexology can support individuals with multiple conditions”.

General information
Who can have reflexology?

Reflexology is suitable for people of all ages, from babies to the elderly. It is a complementary therapy which means it works well alongside Western medicine. Before your first treatment please let me know if you are less than fourteen weeks pregnant, if you are due any imminent medical tests or procedures, if you have thrombosis, DVT or if you are undergoing treatment for cancer so that I can give you the best possible treatment and advice.

Where are treatments held?

The Clinic Room is in the beautiful Kite Studios, 2B Bassein Park Rd, a tranquil, leafy space off Askew Road, Shepherds Bush W12 where there are other therapeutic clinics and lovely art rooms. It is a comfortable, safe and secure space with its own bathroom for you to use. Please be aware that I am upstairs on the first floor. It is a 10 minute walk from Shepherds Bush Market tube on the Hammersmith and city line, Shepherds Bush on the Central line and Ravenscourt Park tube on the District Line. Metered parking is available on the roads surrounding Kite Studios.

My Brighton treatment space is in the easily accessible Seven Dials, Brighton. It is a peaceful, comfortable, safe and secure space that also has its own bathroom next to the treatment room. On the ground floor are the therapy rooms, and you can find my room upstairs on the second floor. Metered parking is available, but it is very easy to reach via the 7 and 18 buses. If walking, it is 10 minute walk from Brighton Station and an 8 minute walk from the City Centre.
